So you’ve bought your ice pod from the internet or in a local store, that’s great! But are you finding that your freezer at home isn’t big enough to chill the water enough, especially on a warm day? Even the smallest ice pods of around 325 litres can require around 12 litres of ice blocks to make a discernible difference to lowering the water temperature.
You may have purchased a small standard freezer to store your water in, running costs add up and a small freezer isn’t that efficient.

Wellbeing is what prompted Chiller King to come into existence. You may have noticed our purple theme, well purple is the wellbeing colour, so we felt we had to go with that.
If you’re thinking about running costs for your chiller unit, our testing over 12 hours a day for four months between April and July 2025 showed the energy consumption was approximately 3kW a day, which works out, depending on your tariff, at 86p.
But here’s the clever bit…. firstly when you set up your Chiller King, you set a target temperature to cool the water to, let’s say that’s 12 degrees. Secondly you set the upper temperature limit that the water can warm by, before the chiller unit kicks back in.
So the chiller won’t run all day long, it will only run when the water temperature reaches the upper limit. Typically we set that to 0.4 degrees warmer than our target temperature, which is 12.4 degrees.
